Role overview

A component of VSO Zambia’s country strategy involves improving the provision of and access to quality services, through improved training, support and coordination of Community Based Volunteers (CBVs) in Zambia. VSO has already supported the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health (MCDMCH) to carry out a skills audit of CBVs and research on the current coordination structures and linkages within the Ministry at district and community levels. Now VSO Zambia seeks suitably qualified consultants with extensive international experience to generate a detailed design and methodology for a future project, which will involve the development of a National Community Based Volunteer Strategy Paper and a draft Policy paper, as well as the draft design of a VSO Programme of Support through the implementation of the strategy and related guidelines.

OXFAM-Human Resource Intern

Human Resource Intern

Duration: up to 6 months (but initial 3 months with possible extension)

The work will be full time with an expected amount of 37.5hours per week.Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Human Resources Advisor the intern will provide hands on learning experience directly related to responsibilities that transfer to skills needed in a full-time position. The opportunity is available to develop, participate and learn roles and functions within the short courses unit, learning from the HR.

As a research and development foundation, Amref Health Africa recognises the dual benefits that can be derived from internship and volunteer attachment programmes. The organisation therefore offers local and international internship and volunteer opportunities. While both volunteer attachments and internships may be part of a learning programme, volunteer opportunities are also offered to out-of-school candidates who may be on sabbatical or who want to contribute to community service.

Scope of the Internship Programme

• Internships are open to diploma, degree, post-graduate and doctoral students who wish to acquire knowledge and experience of a real work environment to the mutual benefit of both the organisation and the Intern. Interns are fully involved in the work programme of the unit relevant to their studies under the supervision of a responsible staff member.
• Interns are expected to contribute their skills, knowledge and competencies while acquiring supplemental training in their areas of specialisation but are not full-time employees. They are not substitutes for full-time staff.
• Amref Health Africa does not offer any payment for internship.
• Internships are normally offered for a period of three but can be extended to a maximum of six months. An intern will work an average of 40 hours per week.

United Nations- Internship Programme

Internship Programme

The United Nations Office at Nairobi offers internship to students who are currently enrolled in at least the final year of a first university degree programme or in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) programme at the time of application, or if they have graduated, can commence their internship within a one-year period after graduation.

The Internship is for a minimum period of two months and a maximum of six.  The purpose of the United Nations internship programme is two-fold:

1. to provide a framework by which students from diverse academic backgrounds gain exposure to the United Nations through assignment to offices within the Secretariat in order to enhance their educational experience and gain experience in the work of theUnited Nations; and
2. to provide United Nations offices with the assistance of qualified students specialized in various professional fields.
