United
Nations University-Institute of Sustainability and Peace (UNU-ISP) Internship
Programme
The purpose of the UNU-Institute of
Sustainability and Peace (UNU-ISP) internship programme is as follows: 1. To
promote interaction and dialogue between young scholars and staff members of
UNU-ISP 2. To familiarize young scholars with the research work and project
activities of UNU-ISP 3. To provide support to activities within UNU-ISP
The internships are well suited to
versatile and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in contributing to
the UNU-ISP in a wide variety of ways. Interns provide valuable logistical,
organizational and research support to UNU-ISP and they in turn receive
training and valuable experience in research and organizing international
events. The internships related to UN-CECAR offers a unique opportunity to be
engaged with, and contribute to, the cutting edge research (and capacity
development) projects related to climate change, impact assessment and
adaptation planing that are being undertaken at UNU-ISP.
Interns are selected based on the
following criteria: 1. Qualifications and experience relevant to climate, water
or agriculture/forest management issues 2. Degree required: Bachelor or
equivalent in disciplines related to science, engineering, geography or similar
field. Final year undergraduate students may be considered if they are highly
motivated and have a strong academic background. 3. Candidates should request
referee(s) to supply confidential letter(s) in support of their applications
directly to the UNU-ISP Internships Committee: internship[at]cecar.unu.edu 4.
For non-Japanese nationals, an appropriate visa is required.
The internship will last at least two
months, with a maximum duration of six months. Interns will be provided office
space and facilities as appropriate for their work and will have free access to
the UNU library.
