About: The Young Women’s Christian Association of Rwanda’s (YWCA Rwanda) mission is “to develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls in Rwanda to achieve high quality education, health and socio-economic conditions for themselves, their families, and their communities.” Our top priorities are nutrition, food security and adolescent sexual and reproductive health education. Our strategy to address these target areas is to equip our beneficiaries with a means to improve their socio – economic conditions, improve our beneficiaries’ knowledge of health issues, rights and laws affecting them and increase their ability to apply them in practice, and encourage positive and changing negative attitudes regarding stereotypes, violence and exploitation.

Position Overview: The Program Development Fellow will work to help design health programs in adolescent and sexual and reproductive health education, and food security and nutrition. His/her role will help our organization establish and maintain a clear strategy on how Rwanda could have youth-friendly and easily accessible health services and how the country could sustainably meet the food security requirements.

The Fellow will be based in the office of YWCA-Rwanda in Kigali and will have contact with all YWCA Rwanda beneficiaries and sub office staff within the 12 districts where YWCA Rwanda operates. The Fellow will report to the Program Coordinator of YWCA-Rwanda and have monthly meetings with the YWCA Rwanda General Secretary to assess the progress of the fellowship program.

About:Uganda Development and Health Associates (UDHA) is a service provision organization dedicated to serving the poor and vulnerable members of Ugandan society. UDHA uses a multi-sector and professional approach with strong community participation and ownership for the enhancement of health, rights and development initiatives. UDHA community-based interventions focus on HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, advocacy, and youth.

Position Overview: The Advocacy and Communications Manager will spearhead, guide, and implement advocacy activities for UDHA and targeted communities aimed at both communities and government.

UN University - Open Scholarship


The UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) is now accepting applications for its two fellowship programmes: UNU-IAS Postdoctoral Fellowships and JSPS-UNU Postdoctoral Fellowships. The closing date for applications is 28 February 2015.
The Institute’s fellowship programmes provide young scientists, policymakers, and developing country scholars with the opportunity to expand their intellectual vision beyond a single scientific field.

UNU-IASPostdoctoral Fellowshipsare offered for a period of 12 months beginning in September 2015. JSPS-UNU Postdoctoral Fellowships, which also starts in September 2015, are offered for 24 months. Postdoctoral candidates must have completed a PhD degree, and candidates' current research must be closely related to one of the thematic areas of the Institute. Completed applications for fellowships must be submitted to UNU-IAS by 28 February 2015. Applications will only be considered if they are complete and all required documentation has been received.

Internship at UNEP


Students from a wide range of disciplines are able to apply, and depending on qualifications, are selected for internships that relate either to the organization's strategic activities or to administrative or technical functions. Internships afford you the opportunity to work in a multi-cultural international organization.

Requirements 

  • The applicant MUST be in his/her third or fourth year of under-graduate (BA/BSc.) or in a graduate (Masters) or post-graduate (PhD) programme, and must continue to be enrolled during the period of the internship and after.
  • Willingness to intern on a full-time basis spending five days a week for a period of not less than THREE MONTHS and not exceeding SIX MONTHS.
  • Send a letter of endorsement from his/her educational institution, attesting to the fact that he/she is currently a registered student and will continue to be enrolled for the envisaged period of the internship. A letter from any one of the following personnel is suggested: ◦Dean of Students or Dean of Faculty◦Registrar ◦Placement Office.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of any other UN language (French or Spanish) is an advantage
