Action Aid- Many opportunities as Inspirators

Insipirators
ActionAid is looking for experienced development practitioners, who are committed to fight injustice together with our many partner organisations in the global South.

Inspirators are cross national placements of development practitioners with significant hands on experience, who have focus on development work. We are particularly seeking candidates with experience working within accountability, campaign & lobby, tax justice and the human rights based approach. However, all candidates with relevant experience in the field of development are welcome to register.

We are looking for dedicated individuals, who would like to spend 3 to 9 months working in collaboration with one of ActionAid’s many partner organisations in Africa, Asia, Central America and the Middle East.

Inspirators are volunteer placements. As an Inspirator, you would have your travel and accommodation expenses covered. You would also receive a living allowance to cover your costs of living while abroad and 400€ to cover some of the expenses you might have in your home country while abroad. Please, be aware that all allowances and subsidies are subject to local tax.

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: MEL Intern
LOCATION: Dakar
DURATION: Fixed term position February to September 2015
REPORTS TO: MEL Coordinator

COORDINATE WITH: She or He will effectively interact with the Senegal Office team. She or He will liaise with Regional Office team and the Boston Headquarters RPD, LEAD and Humanitarian department staff.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The intern will support the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) of interventions within the Senegal portfolio. Oxfam in Senegal areas of work are related to political and social participation (i), access and control over livelihoods (ii) and human security (iii).
In the two later areas of work, Oxfam in Senegal is currently developing a resilience project as well as Ebola response project.
Under the supervision of the regional MEL-coordinator, the intern is expected to work closely with Oxfam teams in Senegal as well as key other actors (partners/ communities) to improve the MEL of specified area of the country strategy.

General Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have excellent verbal communication, written communication, and sales ability.
  • Candidates will be outbound calling/ recruiting local business and community leaders through telephone sales to volunteer/participate in a local fundraising event.
  • Candidate must have a friendly and professional speaking voice with strong phone etiquette
  • This position requires between 12-40 hours a week, M-F from 9-4:30pm. Flexibility offered.
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office is very helpful.

  • Vendor contact and coordination
  • Volunteer coordination
  • Program registration and support schedules.
  • Coordinate contact with outside vendors for various non-profit needs.
  • Coordinate volunteers.

ICJ- Internship, Europe & CIS Programme

The International Commission of Jurists is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the legal promotion and protection of human rights and the rule of law.

Description:
The ICJ is seeking an intern to work in its Europe & CIS Programme, to assist in research and drafting for ICJ research and activities, in particular:
  • Legal research on human rights;
  • Assist in legal research, background papers on independence of the legal
  • profession in the CIS countries and EU;
  • Monitoring legal developments in the CIS;
  • Assistance with ongoing administrative and logistical tasks of the
Programmes.
The post is based in Geneva and is available on a full-time basis. The person selected should be available to start work no later than 15 April 2015 and should be available for a period of six months.
