The salary is based on the current market rate for similar roles in comparable organizations and locations. Background Responsibilities of the Role: 
The intern will work within the Finance Unit under the direct, overall supervision of the Finance Manager.

Specific intern responsibilities: 

  • Full compliance of financial processes and financial records with UNOPS rules, regulations, policies and strategies.
  • Assistance in proper control of the supporting documents for payments and financial reports; payment execution.
  • Processing of financial documentation (Vouchers, supporting documents, telephone invoices etc) and maintaining internal expenditures control systems by ensuring that vouchers processed are matched and completed, transactions are correctly recorded and posted in Atlas; travel claims, monthly payment orders (MPOs) and other entitlements are duly processed.
  • Provision of information for reports on financial status, procedures, exchange rates, costs and expenditures and potential funding problems.
  • Extracting, inputting, copying and filing data from various sources.
  • Maintenance of the proper filling system for financial records and documents
  • Participation in the training's for the operations/project staff on Finance.
  • Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Required Selection Criteria Competencies 
  • Shares knowledge and experience 
  • Ability to perform a variety of repetitive and routine tasks and duties related to screening, collecting and preparation of documentation, data input, transactions tracking, filing, provision of information 
  • Ability to review data, identify and adjust discrepancies 
  • Ability to produce accurate and well documented records conforming to the required standard 
  • Ability to adhere to work assignments and meet designated deadlines. 
  • Focuses on result for the client and responds positively to feedback 
  • Strong IT skills
Education/Experience, Language 
  • Relevant university degree 
  • Applicants must have a very good knowledge of English and be able to write clearly and concisely in the language. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and determination to meet deadlines. 
  • Computer literacy:
  • Proven ability to design using 2007 Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • The candidate must be thoroughly proficient in written and spoken English.

Interns at UNOPS do not receive any remuneration. As such, interns are responsible for all costs associated with the internship, including but not limited to costs for insurance coverage, travel and accommodation. Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and securing any necessary visas.  Flexible working schedules may be arranged.
