Interpeace, an international non-profit organisation, works in close partnership with national partner organizations and the UN, with the aim of building lasting peace. Interpeace supports the active involvement of local, national, and international actors in on-going collective dialogue and participatory policy research that enable societies facing a risk of violent conflict to overcome their internal divisions. Interpeace assists societies to collectively respond to social, economic and political challenges. Chaired by former President John A. Kufuor and headquartered in Geneva, Interpeace is supported by bilateral and multilateral donors as well as private funding. The organization is currently active in Africa, Central America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The Regional Office for West Africa is based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and coordinates Interpeace’s operations in the region, and the work of on-going programmes in Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau and Mali.
Specific Tasks:
- Assist the programmes in the region to help achieve Interpeace’s core objectives of supporting locally owned peacebuilding processes and supporting the international community’s efforts to support local peacebuilding capacities.
- Monitor email and other communications with partner teams.
- Draft and/ or edit periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) programme reports.
- Translate programme and other supporting documents to French/English.
- Draft and/ or edit substantive reports.
- Assist partner teams with the production of substantive and descriptive narrative reports.
- Organize meetings, logistics with and for visitors.
- Possible field visits to the local programme teams in the region.
- Support day-to-day activities of the Regional Office for West Africa and undertake any other activities as called upon by the supervisor.
- Fluency in both English and French required, Portuguese considered a plus.
- Pursuing or completed Masters’ Degree in international relations, political science, communication, journalism or related fields.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in research; knowledge of peacebuilding.
- Field experience in a conflict-affected or post-conflict country preferable.
- Flexibility.
- Evidence of strategic thinking and proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize work.
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
