Volunteering Online - Part 1

The world is rapidly changing and the employment market is changing in equal measures. Our education systems do not adequately prepare grandaunts for work. Interestingly, the world has become, ''a global village'' thank to the Information Technology. The world has been taken by storm with the rapidly growing internet in the globe.

Most if not all organizations are increasingly using the Internet in many ways making work more easy and effective. Communication barriers due to distance and even language have been limited thus providing solution to the dynamics of the job environment.

For example most organizations now require all the applications to be sent electronically. More and more organizations in the world have moved away from paper applications. Adoption of screening softwares in the Human Resource have enabled the Organizations to have pre-screening sessions for the applicants thus limiting the number of ''irrelevant applications''. Therefore, new graduates should be aware and ready of this changes by;

  1. Grandaunts should have a soft Curriculum Vitae ready. Later will learn how to write a volunteering application letter.
  2. Every application has specific requirements thus tailor your CV accordingly
  3. Open an official email address. Often we open email address with fake/nick names. Ensure you have an email that has your official names.
  4. Do not be limited with your profession of study, be open to volunteer in different sectors.
